Summertime news in design district: Ella café

Even though summer in Miami is a so-called slow season, it’s not the case for the Genuine Hospitality Team, which recently opened Ella café – the cafeteria in Miami Design district.

The place is called after Schwartz’s eldest daughter Ella, who works here at least five days a week. She is only a recent high-school grad, but are already like a soul of the place – always greets the clients with a friendly smile and hospitality.

As well as the staff the place looks cozy and hospitable. The small bright place has its floor-to-roof windows and some art works of Craig Robin’s personal collection. There are only 8 seats inside because of the idea to put more of the seating places outside. With a Miami heat it’s sounds a little bit not wise, but in fact the pleasant breeze that comes from Palm Court makes it just perfect.

Ella café is in fact a place where all the “big players” of Miami catering gathers. The Cypress Room’s Roel Alcudia brings their fresh batch of rotisserie chicken to put in salads, sandwiches or to sell on its own. The chef from Michael’s Genuine Bradley Herron helps to prepare breakfast sandwiches and Genuine group’s wine director Eric Larkee helps to prepare Ella’s café their daily sangria. And for the real sweet tooth here is an assortment of pastry from True Loaf which can be well combined big a variety of Panther Coffee.

The menu consist of breakfast, lunch and mid-day snacks. It looks like a café, but you can feel the difference that is very common to all Genuine Hospitality restaurants – simple but elevated. English muffin sandwich filled with bacon, egg and cheese, 9-grain pancakes, homemade bagels topped with beet-cured salmon – everything is made to be just perfect. And they have their special avocado sandwich which contains three kinds of fat: butter, avocado and olive oil. It’s for sure not diet friendly, but absolutely delicious.
