DASH – it’s a design and architecture senior High School located just at the heart of the Miami design district. The school has some nice awards to be proud of such as being 15th best public high school in the nation or being 16th in 2012.

Founded just in 1990 it coined the famous motto of the school “Education by Design”. Maybe because of this point of view, it earned so many awards. Despite awards it has earned the reputation as one of Florida’s strongest public high schools, with it often making Miami-Dade county’s highest marks on some high school exams.
It was featured by Dwell magazine, Teen People and the Miami Herald, Newsweek Magazine recently ranked DASH as the 5th best public high school in the US for 2010. Not surprisingly many students after graduation receive scholarships from many of the nation’s top art and design programs.
There are several subjects you can choose to study here including Architecture/Interior design, Entertainment Technology, Fashion design, Indsutrial Design and Visual Communications/Web Design. The school organize the lectures with professors from local colleges as well as field professionals.
The curriculum is not easy, it includes four-year foundation in the fine arts, internships with local design firms college-level design courses. The students take more courses than the most of Florida’s high schools. Instead of 6 courses, they do 8, so there is no time for rest there as you can see.
As a result of all this hard work we can see many well-known alumni form DASH. Duane Lawrence is a NIKE collaborator who created a signature pair of sneakers for Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade.
Esteban Cortazar established her own fashion house called Emanuel Ungaro, Paris.
Nevertheless, Daniel Archam who is the founder of ar/design firm Snarkitecture, design collaborator with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and chairman at local artist residency Cannonball.
